    Original Post:

In preparation to join The Garden Project staff after my AmeriCorps term is complete in August, I am excited to have the opportunity to attend a School Garden Coordinator Certificate Training in Portland, Oregon this summer.

The certification covers topics from the historic context of school gardens to program evaluations. This training will give me the tools and resources necessary to cultivate successful school garden programs throughout La Plata County. This year I focused on Needham Elementary School and in the coming school year I hope to expand our garden programs more effectively at Riverview Elementary, Park Elementary and Miller Middle School.

To be able to attend, I need to raise the registration fee and travel costs:
    Registration fee: $450
Travel: $530 (Flying from Durango to Portland, economy seat)
Lodging/food: $125 (Free lodging with friends and $25/day budgeted for lunch and dinner x 5 days)
    Total: $1,105

Would you consider making a donation today? The training starts on June 20th and I need to raise the full amount by June 16th in order to attend.

If 74 people make a $15 donation then I would have enough funds to go! Please support me by making a donation. Thank you so much!

Thank you for supporting my personal and professional growth, in doing so you are increasing the impact of our programs in our community.

    Taylor

    Original post:

As a young leader in our community I want to use my energy, optimism, and knowledge to best serve you and our community through community garden programs. I have applied for a 9-week Leadership Training through DurangoLearns.

This training will help me strengthen my skills as an engaging, dynamic, and effective leader bringing people together to grow a healthier world, community, and self through the micro-model of community gardens.

With talks of new potential community gardens at Three Springs and Ignacio, I need the training to become a more effective leader to empower the community to take on these types of projects.

In order to be able to attend, I need to raise the program fees:

    Program fees: $2673 (10% off)
    Total Cost: $2406
This training will give me a skill set I will use for the rest of my life and put into practice immediately. But, I can’t attend without your help. Please support me by making a donation.

Would you consider making a small donation today? The training starts on June 30th and I need to raise the full amount by June 16th in order to reserve my spot.

If 100 people each give $24 then I would have the funds to attend this training! Thank you.

Thank you for supporting my personal and professional growth, in doing so you are increasing the impact our programs can have on our community.

    In gratitude,

    Mia
